TODAY'S WORD FOR Monday, April 15, 2019:
To recall and retain in the mind; remain aware.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
We all have days when we wake up and just do not feel good. Maybe we have aching joints or just a dull spirit. We feel like we just want to stay in bed. You may wonder how you can shake off your lethargy and make it through another day.
Here is an idea for you to ponder: Do what David did when he was down in the dumps. He remembered all his benefits and lifted up his thanks to God. He used his mind and memory to focus on God’s glorious deeds and to rekindle his thankfulness for all God’s benefits. He wrote Psalm 103 praising God for His goodness saying: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
David gives us his list of blessings in Psalm 103 verses 3-5.
• He forgives our sins.
• He heals our diseases.
• He redeems us from the penalty of death for our sins.
• He crowns us with love and compassion.
• He satisfies our desires with good things.
All of these benefits are ours although we deserve none of them. Remembering all of God’s blessings and faithfulness to us strengthens our faith and sustains us in times of trouble and the difficulties of life.
So, when you are down and feeling dis heartened take time to remember all the benefits God has blessed you with as one of His children.
Count your blessings and it will amaze you what God has done.
Our memory verse for this week is found in Matthew 28:6.
He is not here, for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
As we begin this Easter week when we as Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord, help me to remember the great price You paid on the cross for my sins. Help me to serve you and to be a shining example of your love to a hurting world that needs a Savior.
