TODAY'S WORD FOR Tuesday, March 19, 2019:
A tender passionate affection for another person; the affection of God for His creatures and the affection due from them to God; devotion.
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
I John 3:1.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
We chose this word for today even though we have used it already several times. The reason we want to share it with you again is because we are receiving so many emails from people starving for love and frustrated because they are looking to the wrong places for love.
The Lord does not want anyone to be starved for love. In fact, He has made provisions for us to experience the joy and fulfillment of being loved by Him. Many people miss out on what our Lord offers because they are trying to fill the empty place in their lives with things such as money, sex, or prestige. Every one of these human relationships will disappoint, but God’s love will never fail.
Everywhere in the media there seems to be people searching for love, but cannot find it. Some are involved in immoral situations, some have committed crimes, some do not love themselves, some are engaged in excessive spending, some experience loneliness, some are critical of other’s, some get angry at life, some become self-absorbed, some try to buy love and make personal sacrifices that are not honorable to receive love.
God has placed a hunger for love in every human heart, but He’s also provided a way for us to have that need met through Him. The problem is that instead of turning to the Lord for love, people remain stuck in a place of emotional deprivation because they try to satisfy their longings with substitutes that are not of God.
There is no substitute for the love that God offers us. The Bible says that God is love. It is His nature to love. He not only pours out His love into our hearts, but He also lets it flow through us to others so we can have genuinely loving relationships.
If you are frustrated with life, make a change today by accepting Jesus as your Savior, asking Him to forgive you of your sins and then turn yourself over to Him. Read the Bible and pray everyday and watch what God will do for you. Things will change when you are willing to change and obey God.
Our memory verse for this week is found in I John 1:3.
That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
Thank You that You loved us so much that You gave Your only Son to die on the cross for us to pay the penalty for our sins. Help our family to always be mindful of our love relationship with You. Help us to love You more every day and share Your love with those we meet today.
