TODAY'S WORD FOR Wednesday, January 23, 2019:
The bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain without complaint, loss of temper or anger; quiet, steady and even tempered; quiet, uncomplaining endurance under stress or annoyance; being good tempered; having the will to wait.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.
I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Patience does not come naturally but we are daily learning that it is a gift from God. There are times when we must make decisions but we do not know what to do. If we are truly believers in Jesus, we must learn to put in His hands ALL OF THE DECISIONS that we need to make. If God gives us a check in our spirit, we should take the time to pray and share our need with the Lord and then wait on Him. God will make His answer clear to us in His perfect timing -- but we must have the patience to wait on His answer. It will come.
When we are impatient the following mistakes are made:
• If God delays in answering our request, we ASSUME we can go ahead with our plans.
• At times we may try to manipulate God’s Word to get the answer we want. We will search through the Bible looking for a verse that seems to support our desire.
• We will try to manipulate the circumstances in order to justify our own actions.
Satan looks for every opportunity to deceive us and lead us astray. If you are impatient and fall to one of these mistakes Satan will be certain to lead us onto a path of destruction. God has given us His Holy Spirit to guide us through all complexities of life. If God tells us to wait it is because He loves us and has something better for us.
You may ask what is required by God to live obediently and patiently. You must have faith in God, a spirit of obedience, a discernment of God’s timing, a love for God, courage, and the determination to wait.
We can have God’s best in our life if we live a life of obedience by listening, and obeying Him. Timing is very important and if we put our total trust in Jesus the Holy Spirit will give us a clear direction in God’s perfect timing. We do not have to live in doubt and uncertainty because God saved us for His purposes and will guide us if we ask for it. The secret to peace with God is to discover, accept, and appreciate God’s perfect timing.
Our memory verse for this week is found in Psalm 57:1.
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by.
Help me when I pray for direction and guidance in my life to be patient and wait on your answers. Help me to be ever mindful that Your timing is perfect and my timing is not. Help me to wait patiently for Your timing.
