TODAY'S WORD FOR Tuesday, April 17, 2018:

Awareness of facts; truth or principles; what is known; a body of accumulated facts; the sum of what has been learned or discovered.

You shall keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3

The vast amount of knowledge that is available today compared to even ten years ago is mind boggling. Our grandchildren are studying subjects that were not only unavailable to us but we never even heard about them.

Also, the tools available to people today were unheard of years ago. We remember having to go to the library, going through the books available that were already outdated. But today we have computers and all one has to do is type in a few words and vast amounts of information is right at our finger tips.

Having said all this, we must consider how little mankind really knows compared to our all-knowing God. It was Thomas Edison, the prolific inventor, who said that, “We do not know one-millionth part of one per cent about anything. We do not know what water is. We do not know what light is. We do not know what electricity is. We do not know what gravity is. We have a lot of hypotheses, but that is all.” The more we know the more we realize how little we know.

Isaiah answers a question for us as to why people study, filling their minds with all manner of knowledge, yet feel dissatisfied and have a desire for more. Knowledge can fill our mind but it cannot fill our heart or satisfy our soul. Isaiah says in Isaiah 26:3, “Peace comes when our mind is steadfastly focused on the Lord and we put our trust in the Lord.” Furthermore, Isaiah said that the peace we have is PERFECT peace.

The Bible predicts a vast increase in knowledge in the days before Christ returns for believers in the rapture. So are you ready for that day or are you still searching for more knowledge or even still searching for that relationship that is most important for all, a personal relationship with Jesus. The only way you can be ready is to know that you have accepted Jesus as your Savior.

Our memory verse for this week is found in Joshua 1:8.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

We stop and praise You for Your knowledge and power. We thank You for all the knowledge You have given us. It is our prayer that you will guide us to use the knowledge that You have given us to draw people close to You. Help us to grow daily in understanding what You want from us and may our walk and talk show others how much they need a relationship with You.
