TODAY'S WORD FOR Monday, October 05, 2020:
The art of human intellectual achievement; Culture is learned. Influences shapes behavior; the total way of life; the way one thinks, says, does and makes.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and withal your mind. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
There is a war going on in America. It is a battle of cultures. Simply said it is a battle between:
CHRISTIANITY AND SOCIALISM!
In today’s devotional we want to clearly state what is happening in America today. Based on comments we have received by email in the last several weeks, many young people and adults really do not understand what is happening.
This is a war about FAITH, FAMILY, and OUR FUTURE!
The major issues are: Sanctity of life; Sacredness of Marriage; Sexual identity; Religious freedom and Freedom of speech!
As believers of Jesus, we must have a thorough understanding and a clear voice proclaiming our Biblical Standards. We must examine our lives and make sure our walk and our talk are upholding the Biblical principles that God has laid out for us in His Word. Are we walking and talking with:
COURAGE – CONVICTION – COMPASSION!
Non-believers in Jesus -- the socialists fighting this war -- offer to the world a complete conflict to what believers believe. Socialism is a political, philosophical, economic system with total government decision making. Also, they propagate government ownership along with being in every aspect of a person’s life.
It is appealing to young people because they believe that things and services will be handed to them free by the government. But the government cannot earn money. Government taxes the people that work and then gives to those who do not work. That is Socialism. Soon the government runs out of money when the free loaders out-number the workers. In the long run, people will choose not to work when they see all their tax money is paying their neighbor what he sends for taxes.
Margaret Thatcher said: “Socialism works until you run out of other people’s money.”
The Biblical standards were considered by our forefathers as they built America. Capitalism, the lifestyle of our founders, has private ownership of capital goods; with investments determined by private decisions and prices; production and distribution of goods determined by competition on the free market. There is a limited role of government.
Here are the facts: In a recent poll by the Barnum group, 43% of Americans now say that socialism will be good for America while 56% say socialism will be bad for America. Our big concern is that young people -- the ages of some of our grand-children 21-35 -- are adopting socialism now as their way of life -- over 58%. BUT ONLY 1/3 of these can give any kind of a definition of Socialism.
Here are two facts for you to ponder:
First, a generation has risen that knows little about socialism. Are you in that category?
Secondly, no one serious about their Christian faith can be a socialist. DO YOU AGREE?
In closing we want to share the words written by the German Theologian and Protestant pastor Martin Niemoller. He lived from 1892 to 1984. He spent 7 years in a Socialist/Nazi concentration camp. His post war words (World War 1) sound eerily prophetic on what is happening here in America:
“First, they (Nazi/Communists) came for the Jews and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Socialists and I did not speak out, because I was not a Socialists. Then they came for the Catholics and I did not speak out, because I was not a Catholic. Then they came for me and all the preachers and Christians but by then there were no one left to help us.”
Do not forget -- SOCIALISM COMES FROM A MARXIST AND COMMUNIST BASE!! YOUR FUTURE WILL BE LIKE HOW YOU RESPOND TODAY!
Our memory verse for this week is found in Job 22:26-27.
You will have delight in the Almighty, and you will lift up your face to God. You will pray to Him, and He will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.
Give our family, dear Lord, the wisdom and drive to live everyday by your commandments and then to walk and talk what we believe.
