TODAY'S WORD FOR Tuesday, January 07, 2020:
Constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken; the degree of care and caution expected of a person as part of an agreement.
Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Diligence is the theme of the book of Deuteronomy and it tells us to:
• Diligently obey the voice of the Lord, and observe carefully all His commandments which I (Moses) command you today, then the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth (Deuteronomy 28:1).
• Diligently teach God’s Laws to your children, talk to them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up. (Deuteronomy 6:7).
• Diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you (Deuteronomy 6:17).
• Diligently weed out corruption from our midst (Deuteronomy 13:13-15).
Are you diligent about listening to God’s voice, teaching His words to your children, obeying Him, and ridding your life of impurities?
According to 2 Peter 1:10, by diligence we make our “Calling and election sure.” Those who follow the Lord with a constant effort of persistence grow in their daily confidence and assurance of His love. Do not just follow Jesus from a distance. Be diligent about keeping in step with Him. Take your faith seriously every day.
Our memory verse for this week is found in Psalm 33:12.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.
Help us, dear Lord, to be diligent about listening to Your voice and teaching our children while obeying You and ridding our lives of impurities. Thank You for giving us the strength to serve You daily with diligence.
