TODAY'S WORD FOR Wednesday, September 18, 2019:

The favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; a successful performance or achievement. The accomplishment of an aim or purpose; believing and doing what the Word of God says regarding everyday living.

If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but wisdom brings success.
Ecclesiastics 10:10.

One of the greatest differences between the world’s message about success and God’s is this: The world seeks a single formula to produce one set of results for all people, while God’s plan is far more creative, far more individualized and far more personal.

For example, Moses did not have a vision for success early in his life, although as an adopted son of Pharaoh’s daughter he enjoyed a certain degree of privilege. Moses was more a reactor than a planner. When he saw an Egyptian mistreating a Hebrew slave, he jumped into the conflict and killed the Egyptian. Moses had to flee from the palace and he spent 40 years in the wilderness tending sheep.

But these years were not wasted because the Lord was in the process of preparing him for service. When Moses was ready -- when brokenness had reached its goal -- God called to him from the midst of a burning bush and gave him a specific set of instructions and a life mission. God had a plan for Moses. God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt to the Promised Land. Moses was like a dull ax and God put him through the grinder to ready him for the task.

Many of us go through difficult and even devastating experiences, and then one day come face-to-face with the reality and calling of God. Is this the pattern that God seems to be implementing in your life? If so, stick with His plan, regardless of how extraordinary it may seem -- the Promised Land lies in the direction He is leading you. He is preparing you for the task ahead.

Our memory verse for this week is found in Philippians 1:29.

For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also suffer for His sake.

My prayer daily is for success in my life. Not the success that I work for but the success You have for me. Thank You for the assurance I have from Jeremiah 29:11 that the plans You have for me are to “prosper me and not harm me, plans to give me hope and a future.
