TODAY'S WORD FOR Monday, June 10, 2019:

Morally excellent; righteous; of high quality.

The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I have hope in Him. The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.
Lamentations 3:24-25.

No one is good except God alone.
Mark 10:18.

The Lord is good. That is who He is. He does not just possess the quality of goodness; He is by His very nature good. He is always good and the essence of all that is good. As we spend time with Him and encounter His presence, His goodness becomes apparent.

The Psalmist suggests that we, “Taste and see that the Lord is good” Psalm 34:8. The Psalmist seems to be saying, “Try it.” Just take that first step of obedience in following the Lord and you will see that God is good. When you first begin to step into a relationship with God, your knowledge of how good God is, is incomplete. When you step out in faith and follow Jesus in all that He commands you, you cannot help but discover how good He is.

The more you “taste” God the more you will desire to know Him and obey Him because He is the overflowing God of goodness. As you wait upon the Lord you will come to experience the characteristics of His goodness flowing and washing over you.

James 4:8 tells us, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Like the father of the prodigal son, your heavenly Father runs to meet you when you make a move toward Him. And when you do, you will find He is so good and is all you need.

You can be fully satisfied in God. And you can be divinely renewed as you wait on Him. It is because of God’s goodness that He sent His Son to save you and restore you and bring divine renewal to your life. God is so good and will satisfy you completely when you put all of your trust in Him.

Our memory verse for this week is found in I Corinthians 3:11.

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Thank You God for Your goodness. Thank You that because of Your goodness You sent Your Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for my sins. Help me to daily draw near to You so that I may experience more of Your goodness.
