TODAY'S WORD FOR Friday, May 31, 2019:

A fact; reality; consistent with God’s Word.

Jesus said to the Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:31-32.

The entirety of Your Word is truth.
Psalm 119:160.

There is so much deceit and deception in this world that it is very difficult at times to know if you are hearing or reading the truth.

Some say there is no such thing as truth. Others say that if it does exist we cannot know it. But the Bible teaches that truth does exist and we can know it. For something to be true it must be absolutely true all the time. Nothing can change it. The one thing we do know that never changes is the one Holy, Righteous and divine God.

The Jehovah God of the Bible does not change; nor can He lie. I Samuel 15:29 says this about God, “He does not lie or change His mind, for He is not a man, that He should change His mind.”

Truth is not found in man. God is the creator of all things and the source of truth. The Bible is God’s inspired Word and God revealed His truth through His Word, the Bible. He is the only source of truth we can be certain of. What the Bible teaches is truth.

Our world is sick and what the world needs is a transfusion of truth. There is a way to infuse truth into your own life. The one sure way is to become grounded in the scriptures because God’s Word is the one and only source of truth. (see verses above)

If you read the Bible daily, study the passage you read and then pray that God would make that portion relative to you, and God will enable you to see and understand truth.

It is through the Scriptures we learn about Christ who is the way, the truth and the light. It is in the Scriptures given to us in the Bible that God has revealed truth. Without revelation from God, we walk in darkness. “God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path” Psalm 119:105. The light of God’s Word reveals what is truth.

There is no way to know the truth unless you know the source of truth – God’s Word.

You need a real desire and a solid commitment to reading the Bible if you are going to let God’s Word shape your mind, emotions and will. Satan will find all sorts of distractions to keep you from God’s Word.

The awesome thing about the Bible is that there is no area of life or human experience that the Bible does not address. It is God’s instruction book for us. As the Psalmist tells us, “All God’s Words are true.” And as Jesus Himself told us while on this earth, “If you abide in My Word, you are My disciple indeed. And you shall know the truth” John 8:31-32.

If we let the truths of the scriptures fill our minds, guard our emotions and influence our conduct, God will keep us from self-deception and from the deception from Satan. He, God, will show us clearly the way to salvation through Jesus Christ His Son. By reading and meditating on His Word you will learn to understand His ways and the more you know Him the more you will love Him.

Are you searching for truth? You will find it in God’s Word!  A life grounded in truth, as given to us in God’s Word, is powerful and you will learn spiritual discernment which will guide your choices and guard you against deception and make you free.

Our memory verse for this week is found in Exodus 20:3.

You shall have no other Gods before Me.

Help me to continually seek to know the truth of Your Word and apply it to my life. Thank You, Jesus, for Your assurance that I can know the truth and that Your truth has set me free.
