Planned Giving: Living Trusts

A revocable self-declaration living trust allows you to have control of your assets, while at the same time providing for your loved ones and those to whom you want to leave a bequest. An important highlight of a living trust is that you can change your mind and revoke or alter the terms of the trust at any time..

Benefits to Loved Ones

Meets the changing needs of your family. Since it is revocable, your living trust may be altered or terminated at any time.

Provides privacy to your plans. Only those involved in the distribution of assets will be involved. A living trust is a confidential and private matter.

Avoids the cost and inconvenience of probate. Those who benefit from your estate can lose significant amounts through probate expenses such as legal fees, court costs etc. Those depending on this income for reasons of financial support or specialized care sometimes have to wait a long time for estate matters to be settled. A living trust, on the other hand, may take only a few days instead of months or years, because it bypasses the probate system.

Ensures continuous management of assets. In the event of incompetence or disability of the person establishing the trust, the assets in the living trust will continue to be managed. Upon their death, the living trust, without interruption, continues to provide income to family and heirs.
